How Counselling Can Help Your Child.
Children may benefit from counselling if they are experiencing anxiety or worries, difficulty managing big emotions such as anger or frustration, school-related challenges, friendship difficulties, low confidence or self-esteem, or adjusting to family changes and life transitions.

I work primarily with children and young adolescents. With over 11 years of experience working with children in primary schools, I understand the social and emotional challenges children face at home and at school. I provide a warm, safe, and inclusive space where children feel heard, respected, and supported. My work is delivered ethically and professionally in line with ACA standards, and I value working collaboratively with parents and carers to support each child’s wellbeing.
-
I understand that every child is unique and that seeking counselling can feel like an important step for families. My approach is gentle, respectful, and guided by each child’s individual needs and developmental stage. I support children by creating a safe and welcoming space, drawing on my experience as a primary school teacher to understand learning and school-related challenges, and helping children develop emotional awareness, coping skills, and confidence. I work collaboratively with parents and carers and, where appropriate, incorporate therapy-dog support with Winnie to help children feel calm and at ease. My focus is on helping children feel safe, understood, and supported as they develop skills to manage emotions, relationships, and everyday challenges.

Every child is unique, and counselling is tailored to their individual needs. Counselling typically begins with a parent/carer consultation to explore your child's strengths, current concerns and your goals for support. Your child will then attend individual counselling sessions, where the focus is on building a safe, trusting relationship and developing strategies to support their wellbeing. Parent consultations may be recommended throughout the counselling process to review progress, share strategies and ensure we are working together to support your child.

I bring over 11 years of experience working with children in primary school settings, alongside my counselling training. This background helps me understand the social, emotional and school-related challenges children often face.
My approach focuses on building a safe and trusting relationship where children feel comfortable expressing themselves. Sessions are supportive, practical and tailored to the individual needs of each child, helping them develop skills to better understand and manage their emotions.
